Both
LETRAS and EQUALS are wonderful
educational tools for the home and classroom.
LETRAS
can be used to help young children learn to read and spell beginning
with simple 3-letter words. It's also useful in ESL and adult literacy
classes. At the same time, master wordsmiths will be thoroughly
challenged by a game of, say, 7 or 8-card
LETRAS..
EQUALS
is designed to help students learn to think mathematically. Young
children (7-8) might start with a simple 3-card hand like 3 + 2, while
more advanced players might construct a 9-card hand equaling 4 as
follows: 8 - 2 x 2 ÷ 4 + 1 (with the 2 ÷ 4 in parenthesis).
In
addition to language and math skills, LETRAS and EQUALS
help students develop higher order thinking skills. Developing game strategies
and analyzing probabilities, for example, are skills required by expert players
of either game.
SOJOURN
is designed primarily for adults but can be easily used by high school and college students, and, of course, by adult learners. It is useful in classes related to writing, creativity and self-discovery. It can also be useful in therapeutic environments as well as in corporate training environments.
